Last year, I did an end of the year canvas contest! I loved it so much, I decided to do one again this year! :) In order to cast your vote, go to my facebook page, like my page, and then like the picture of your favorite couple! The couple with the most votes will win! Voting ends 12.31.12. Also, with some of my couples, I shot their wedding and engagement session in the same year, so I just posted a wedding image instead! :)

I am SO excited to show off this wedding today! Christian and Tori are an amazing couple and I have so loved getting to know them, and be with them for such an important and exciting stage of their life! Christian and Tori first met at a work convention. Even though he lived in Virginia and she lived in Minnesota, they still started dating! I am beyond excited for every single couple on their wedding day, but I always think that there is something extra special for a couple who spent most of their relationship doing long-distance. No longer are they having to figure out when they can visit each other, because now they are MARRIED and can be together all the time! Christian and Tori’s day was perfect! Even though it was November, it was still 70 degrees and sunny! It was the absolute perfect day! They got married at the Thomas Birkby house in Leesburg, VA. It was this gorgeous, historic house that was a dream to shoot at! Also a huge thank you to Meghan for second shooting with me! She was wonderful!
I was in love with her bouquet! And she made it herself! I am so impressed, Tori!
Absolutely stunning, dress!
These guys were awesome! I love groom’s that care about their images and understand the importance of them! Christian was 100% on board with wanting to get great images and taking the time to get them!
Ha! Love this!
Loving these socks! Such a fun addition to the day!
Looking dapper there, Christian! (Wait, dapper? Did I just become British?)
Love it when it’s time for the bride to put her dress on!
Ah! Love First Looks! I am so glad that Christian + Tori choose to do one!
Thanks, Meghan, for the two shots below!
These next few images are why I LOVE First Looks so much!
They are SO amazing together!
Love these! The lighting was perfect, and this little building with the ivy was awesome!
I love it when couples do something that is fun and yet them! This is totally Christian and Tori!
Amazing! You are so beautiful, Tori!
This is just one of the reason why I LOVE LOVE LOVE my job! When I showed Tori the image on the right on the back of my camera, she started tearing up! I love capturing memories from such an important day!
You may remember Scott and Lindsey from their Roanoke engagement session a few weeks ago! This couple is so sweet and wonderful. They are both those quiet, sweet and unforgettable types of people. I remember when I talked to Lindsey on the phone the first time, she said she wanted their wedding to be simple. And it was, but the best kind of simple. The kind of simple that is focused on the important things and the things that matter. There was no doubt in anyone’s mind that day that Scott and Lindsey belong together. And the day was focused on them, their love for each other and their love for the Lord. I have to give a big shout out to my second shooter, Janine! Thanks so much for your help all day! You were wonderful! A few of her shots are throughout.Gorgeous ladies!Ah First Looks! They are the BEST!Love this one!
Hey there guys! They were SO much fun! I had a great time with them!
Loved all of the purple decorations!
Oh my goodness. This is too special! I am BEYOND excited that Scott and Lindsey gave me time for sunset portraits! I think that this is such an important part of the day! Usually the First Look ends up happening right in the middle of the day (when the light is not that great), so it is awesome when we have time to do some more portraits when the lighting is perfect!New favorite!Love it!
That is Scott’s dad! I love his face as he watches his son with his new bride!
I haven’t given any life updates recently, so I decided to share a few!
1. About two months ago, I started getting some serious dizzy spells. The worst was during a week that we went to visit our good friends in Texas. I felt so bad, but I had to keep laying down on the couch several times a day because I felt like I was going to pass out. I didn’t know what was going on. I have never passed out before, so for me, its almost scarier because I don’t know what it is like. I had been having bad headaches for a while and had trouble falling asleep at night because my neck hurt so much that I couldn’t get comfortable. I had been to a chiropractor a couple of years before because I had dislocated both of my shoulders (not at the same time! Once in high school and then the other one in college), but I hadn’t been back since. I decided to go and see if that would help. Well it turned out that I had four pinched nerves! That was causing my headaches, dizziness and my back and neck spasms that I had been having too. For a long time I had felt so exhausted, had no energy, and felt like I need 10 hours of sleep a night, plus naps! Well, one of the nerves that was being pinched runs through all of the organs in the body, so this was causing all of my organs to not function properly, leaving me tired all of the time! I am so thankful that the chiropractor was able to find the solution to all of these problems! I have been having to go three times a week, but I have started feeling so much better! For a while there, I had a hard time working and getting things accomplished because I was so tired all of the time and in pain. But now, things are going great! There were a few weddings I had this Fall that I thought for sure I was going to pass out right in the middle of the ceremony! I am SO thankful that I am ok, that the Lord has provided doctors with the knowledge to help heal, and that I am on a good treatment plan that is making me feel so much better! I also apologize if I have been slow to respond or follow through with anything! I was just so exhausted all the time (and didn’t know why!) but now I am able to catch up and finish everything! I never knew how hard it was to try and run a business when you aren’t feeling well!
2. On a completely different note… I love the Holidays! (Don’t I just have the smoothest transitions? Amazing, I know.) I love everything about Christmas, Thanksgiving and that time of year! Every year for Thanksgiving, we go to Pennsylvania to see my Mom’s side of the family. That is also the time we do our family Christmas picture every year. For those of you haven’t heard my back story into photographer, my dad is also a photographer (as well as my brother!) so that is how I first got into the picture world! Neither of them do weddings or portraits, but I am so thankful to have them there and to have learned from them! In past years, my dad was always in charge of the Christmas family picture, and then my brother, but this year was my first chance to direct it! I was excited! Our first plan didn’t work, so this was our backup plan, but I still think it turned out pretty good! :) Obviously that is me and my hot husband down on the left end, next to us is my brother and sister-in-law, and then my sister and her husband, and then my youngest sister with my parents. If you notice, I am the only one with blonde hair in my family. Weird huh? I was so excited to about this year’s picture, I just wanted to share it with you all! :) What do you think? Maybe next week I will share previous family Christmas pictures…. mmmm :)
This is one of my favorite engagement sessions EVER! Brandon and Julia are seriously one of the sweetest couples that I have met in my entire life! They are so wonderful and perfect together! Brandon and Julia are beyond photogenic and the lighting was AMAZING! This is what I think of when I think of perfect lighting! We shot their session at Keswick Hall in Charlottesville, which was beautiful! It was the perfect place for this session! I can’t even tell you how thrilled I am to work with these two! I am so excited to be able to be a part of their wedding day in June! Enjoy my favorites below!
This is definitely a favorite! :)
You are so beautiful, Julia!

Brandon did good! Check out that ring!
Thank you both for an amazing time! I am so excited to keep working with you both!
I LOVE this couple! They are one of the sweetest couples ever! I loved them ever since our first meeting together! I have enjoyed getting to know them throughout this process! :) Josh and Brittany are both nursing majors, so they have super busy schedules! Even though it was hard for us to find a time that worked for all three of us, it was so worth it! There were still some leaves on the trees and the lighting was perfect that day! I had such an amazing time with them on this session, I can’t wait for their wedding day! :)
You are beyond gorgeous, Brittany!
Love this one!
The lighting was amazing!
After they changed, we headed to downtown Lynchburg to finish up! It was starting to get dark, so I absolutely loved that we were able to have the streetlights on!
These next three are new ALL TIME favorites!!! Love them so much!
This one is so romantic! It feels to me like Paris at night (ok, Lynchburg is a FAR –very far– cry from Paris, but it has that feeling!)!!!!Thank you both for an amazing session!! I can’t wait for March!!!!!
I am BEYOND excited to show you this beautiful wedding! Calvin and Tiffany are an amazing couple and I was so blessed to be a part of their day! Tiffany and I had many conversations about all of the amazing details that they would be having, so I know before I even showed up, that I would be up to my ears in amazing details. Let me tell you, everything was incredible! The reception looked wonderful, the locations were amazing, and everything just looked picture perfect. Tiffany is also a photographer, so she knew exactly what I needed! I had plenty of time for everything, and everything was organized so well! Tiffany and Calvin’s day was beyond incredible! They are both so sweet and amazing, and I just felt like we were old friends from way back when! I am so blessed that I could asked to be a part of their day! Thank you both so much! I also want to give a shout out to my great second shooter, Jessica (yes we have the same name!), she was wonderful, and a couple of her pictures are throughout! I hope you enjoy my favorites below!
The guys were awesome! They wanted to do “manly” pictures with their guns and cigars! I loved it so much!
The cabin where the girls got ready was built in the 1700′s! It was the perfect place for detail shots!
The bridemaids dresses were beautiful!

So fun! Love it!
I LOVE Day After sessions! What is a Day After session you might ask? Is it really the day after the wedding? Well, let me just fill you in, and tell you why I love them so much! A Day After session can be anytime after your wedding! A week, a year, or even 10 years! It is just an opportunity to put your wedding clothes on and have time for more portraits! On a wedding day, it can be hard to get ALL of the portraits that you want, depending on time, location or even time of day (you want sunset pictures — but are getting married at 1pm). So this is just an opportunity to feel like a bride again, get a ton of portraits and plan out exactly what you want for location and time of day! It is always wonderful because there is no rush. You can spend as much time in a relaxed setting without having to worry about staying on the wedding day schedule!
Bethany + Benjamin had been wanting to do a Day After session for a while, and Benjamin gave her this session as their one year anniversary gift! I was SO excited to be able to do this for them! I had the chance to do their engagement session, so I was so excited to be able to do this for them as well! They are so sweet and cute together and I loved being able to shoot their portraits right as the sun was setting! I love this session, and I hope you do too! :)

Isn’t the lighting incredible? I love shooting in the evening!
I first met Emily a few years ago. We were both counselors at the same summer camp! I never had a chance to meet Eric until a few weeks before I did their engagement session, but I knew right away that he and Emily were perfect for each other! He can make her laugh at any moment, and she adores him. They are an amazing couple, and I loved spending such an important day with them! Emily and Eric also had an incredible bridal party — everyone was so helpful, sweet and fun! Emily and Eric, I loved being able to be a part of your wedding day! Thank you so much for choosing me to share it with you! :) Enjoy my favorites below!

Shawn and Addie are such a sweet couple! I was so privileged to be able to be a part of their day! When I first talked to Addie on the phone, she told me that their wedding was going to be held at a renovated train depot in their town. I knew that it was going to be beautiful! Throughout our time that we worked together, Addie would send me sweet cards in the mail. They were pink and sparkly, completely fitting her personality! You will notice her pink shoes below! :) I love couples who are deeply in love, and Shawn and Addie were no exception! The whole day was special, heartfelt and full of emotion!
